WHAT WE DO
Our Vision
At HDA we envision a connected, inclusive, and resilient Cardiff – where everyone feels a genuine sense of belonging and has the opportunity to thrive.
We believe every individual, regardless of background or circumstance, should be valued, supported, and able to access the opportunities they need to realise their potential and contribute positively to their community.
Our Mission
Our mission is to empower children, young people and families through high-quality youth work, wellbeing activities and community-led programmes that strengthen inclusion, build confidence and support long-term positive outcomes.
We provide safe, welcoming and culturally responsive spaces in disadvantaged inner-city communities where people can learn, connect and grow. Our work is led by young people and the wider community, grounded in inclusion and focused on developing skills, leadership and resilience.
Our programmes are free and accessible, offering youth sessions, holiday activities, sports and wellbeing initiatives, creative arts, skills development, volunteering opportunities and community events. Participants help shape what we deliver, take part in social action and use their voices to influence the decisions that affect their lives.
Our Values
- Inclusion – We welcome and respect people of all backgrounds, cultures, and identities.
- Empowerment – We support individuals and communities to build confidence, skills, and leadership.
- Respect – We promote dignity, safety, and mutual respect in everything we do.
- Community-Led – Our work is shaped by the voices and needs of local people.
- Collaboration – We believe strong partnerships create stronger communities.
