Cardiff Community Cohesion Cup
Founded in 2014 by Horn Development Association (HDA) in partnership with South Wales Police (SWP), the Cardiff Community Cohesion Cup is an annual football tournament that brings together teams from Cardiff’s BAME communities to promote inclusion, cultural exchange, and stronger community relationships.
The tournament follows a Champions League-style format (group stages through to the final). The overall winner then progresses to the Super Cup, facing a team made up of South Wales Police officers and ex-professional footballers.
The Cup was hosted at the Wales Millennium Stadium for its first three years. Since 2019, it has been delivered with additional partners including the Cardiff City Foundation, and now takes place at the Cardiff City Stadium-a high-profile setting that reflects the importance of community cohesion and inspires participants.
Why we created it
HDA delivers a wide range of community projects across Cardiff, with a strong focus on BAME communities. We believe sport can break down barriers, open direct channels of communication, and build trust between communities and local services.
