About the Gardening Club

Our Gardening Club brings families together in our community garden for fun, creative sessions that support learning, wellbeing, and connection with nature. The club is particularly suited to younger children aged 5–10 who are not yet old enough to attend Youth Club, including families with older siblings already involved.

Through hands-on activities, children and parents or carers learn practical gardening skills such as planting, nurturing, and harvesting fruits and vegetables, as well as growing flowers and plants. These activities support key learning outcomes, including improved understanding of where food comes from, the development of responsibility and patience, and increased confidence through learning by doing. Children also build early science knowledge, fine motor skills, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities in an engaging, outdoor environment.

A core aim of the Gardening Club is to support families facing financial pressures. By growing their own fresh produce, participants gain access to healthy food while developing skills that can help reduce household food costs. The club also promotes sustainable living, healthy eating, and resourcefulness, empowering families with knowledge they can continue to use at home.

The Gardening Club provides a relaxed, welcoming space where families can spend quality time together, strengthen relationships, and support one another. Sessions take place periodically throughout the year, and all activities are completely free, ensuring that cost is never a barrier to participation.
